Brainstorming for Tutorial Ideas

Hey everyone! I have been running through some ideas on a new series of tutorials. What can I do that has already not been done? It is important to me that the idea is not only unique but also something that I am passionate about. The idea for the Runway to Everyday series came to me while I was looking at stills from a fashion show and was inspired by the over the top makeup that the models wore. How cool would it be to use something that most would think as "too much" and try to rework it into something that would be deemed acceptable to wear out in public? I have a passion for high fashion and I think that it keeps me excited about the challenge of the Runway to Everyday series.

What else could be done that I have not seen touched on? During my lunch break, I was looking through a book that featured the work of Walter Richard Sickert, whose art makes me feel uneasy and forlorn. On the other hand, when I am looking at paintings by John Singer Sargent, I feel a sense of empowerment. Let me see if I can explain this rationally because it is hard to explain an emotion or a visceral reaction one gets when looking at a work of art. Sargent, doesn't just capture the form of a woman, he captured the spirit of a woman. His paintings make me proud to be a woman of spirit and it is amazing to see that spirit captured on canvas.

I recently completed a tutorial for a sheer, smoked out look with a shimmering center. My color palette used was inspired by this painting from Singer; one of my favorites.

I want to expand on that idea. What better place to draw inspiration from than the works of the greatest artists of our times? Where can one find a better place to draw ideas of textures and colors than the walls of a museum?

I am going to try an experimental series based on art that inspires me. I am trying to find a catchy title though. I am having a block on that and it is frustrating.
I know what painting I will be drawing from for my next tutorial;

Girl with a Pearl Earring. Ah.. Vermeer. (dies)

Oh man. I love this idea. Perhaps consider something by Magritte? He's pretty crazy (I always loved Les Amants).

And of course, I hope to see Flaming June somewhere. :)

As for a title? I think it would require someone more creative than me.

This will be great!

Diego Velázquez: "Las meninas" and "Venus at her mirror" have a mix of colors I just love.

"Girl with a fan" by August Renoir provides an interesting array of colors and of course Claude Monet landscape paintings always drive me to a fantastic and peaceful place--and I love the little surprises he provides in his paintings, =)

Not that I'm an art connoisseur, I just remember Mami taking me to museums when I was little and instantly be amazed by all the paintings.

I remember the time I first saw Flaming June (the original painting at Ponce Museum of Art here in Puerto Rico) I was so impressed mostly by the colors...and the fact that the lady was asleep in a very uncomfortable position (again, I was very young LOL). I love it so much I had a print of it beautifully framed on my home.

This is a great idea Jude, can't wait to see your work.

I'm an art history major, and I totally love this idea. I remember seeing you on mac_cosmetics years ago (I was always too shy to post but I loved your looks) and now finding your blog years later I am so excited about this idea. You mentioned Sargent and I immediately thought of my favorite painting by him - Lady Agnew of Lochnaw. I think a look inspired by this painting would be fantastic. Heres a link:
