Yesterday was moving day at my job so there was a lot of files being transferred and in the process my nails were wrecked. My nails were chipped, split and peeling so I cut them down and am taking this opportunity to see if the legendary nail cocktail of Biotin and Folic Acid really works.
I will take a nail picture daily so we can track the progress of my poor little nails and see for ourselves if the legend is true. With luck, these sad creatures will see some fast improvement.
Please forgive the state of my nails. They are stained and in desperate need of some cuticle maintenance. All I am using for the next few days is a Qtica Nail Strengthener to give them a little breather.

Hey Jude, you should deff. look into trying Nail Tech Intensive Therapy for your nails, it does absolute wonders! Also, try adding jello to your diet--gelatin makes your nails grow fast and also strong. :)
Be careful with the Biotin! It's been known to cause acne!
I've found that cuticle butter works really well for helping nails grow quickly. I put on Burt's Bees Lemon cuticle butter before going to bed at night, and it's amazing.
I second the Nail Tek products, they're awesome
Hey jude! i've actually tried the nailtiques protein formula #2. It's slightly expensive for a .5fl oz bottle but i put it on underneath my nail polish, and it helps my nails be super smooth and strong without my having to forgo wearing nail polish! hope that helps
Thanks everyone for the great tips! I took pics of my second day nails and will get it up later. Of course there is no change yet but we will see how things progress.
I have found that simply keeping my nails polished has really helped my nails stay strong and grow long. It's been a good 6 months since I started consistently wearing nail polish and I can definitely say that my nails are at least ten times stronger and healthier than they were 6 months ago.
My nail routine consists of Orly Bonder Basecoat, my NPOTD(usually 2 coats), and Seche Vite's Dry Fast Topcoat. I also use a glass nail file instead of the disposable kind. It's gentle on the nails, sanitizeable, and a great long-term investment. Nails tend to grow to a taper, so filing them gives them a blunt, strong edge and prevents them from breaking. All this stuff can be found at Sally's :).
Hope this helps!
I never knew about that cocktail. My nails are wrecked due to my using acrylic nails and now they are short & weak. I would be curious to see how this works. I am willing to try anything.
I am loving everyone's suggestions. Keep em coming!
You guys rock...
If you rub cuticle oil or cuticl butter in circular motions starting at the edge of your cuticle down towards the end of your nail it will stimulate nail growth!!
