Breast cancer awareness is very essential in our society. This is essential because there are more than two million breast cancer survivors in US today and awareness may help in a large way. Breast cancer awareness includes (i) the value of early detection and (ii) the reality that, if detected early, breast cancer is curable.
Breast cancer awareness movements includes the significance of normal breast examination, in addition to having an a yearly mammogram and clinical breast examination done after the age of forty and once every three years between the ages twenty and forty if you have a family history of breast cancer.

October is the international Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our goal should be: “Create breast cancer awareness throughout year — do not wait for October to arrive”. For over 2 decades, a number of NGO’s have been dedicated to creating breast cancer awareness, educating ladies all over the globe about early detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
Pink Ribbon- The Symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness
Of late, breast cancer awareness events have got so much thrust that they draw not only volunteers and general public, but also politicians, celebrities and big corporations who are willing to be a part of them by sponsoring such programs. This has resulted in international breast cancer awareness and fundraising activities like “Think Before You Pink” and “In the Pink,” represented by a pink ribbon.
