Lawyer, Senator and former First Lady, Hillary Rodham (Clinton) was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago. She is the 67th United States Secretary of State , serving in the administration of President Barack Obama.
During 1964, Hillary Rodham was active in young Republican groups and later in 1968, she was motivated to work in some form of public service after she heard a speech by the Reverend Martin Luther King and became a Democrat. As a young woman, she was active in student politics and had also worked at various jobs. She then attended Yale Law School, where she met Bill Clinton. After graduating with honors in 1973, she also completed 1 post-graduate year of study on medicine and children at Yale Child Study Center.
Hillary Rodham came to Washington D.C in 1971, to work on U.S. Senator Walter Mondale's subcommittee on migrant workers. During the summer of 1972, Hillary joined the campaign of Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern. After about 2 years, she became the member of the presidential impeachment inquiry staff, wherein she was acting as a advisor to the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives. In 1975, Hillary Rodham and Bill Clinton got married and after an year, Hillary Clinton joined the Rose Law Firm and the University of Arkansas Law School, where Bill Clinton was teaching as well. Hillary Clinton was appointed to the board of the Legal Services Corporation by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.
Hillary Clinton was listed twice as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America and from 1979-1992, she had successfully led a task force to improve the education system of Arkansas. During those times, she also sat on the board of directors of Wal-Mart and many other top-notch organizations. As First Lady of Arkansas, she served on the boards of the Children's Defense Fund and Arkansas's Children's hospital; co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and chaired the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee. In the presidential campaign of 1993, she appeared as an energizing spouse of her husband and successfully headed the task force on National Health Reform.
On November 7, 2000, she was appointed as United States Senator for New York. Till 2006, she had raised over $33 million for her Senate re-appointment campaign and in early 2007, she declared that she was in the race to be a president. Nevertheless, all did not go well for Hillary as in January 2008, Barack Obama won for the Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses, and by the end of February, she and Barack Obama were into the close thing for the Democratic nomination. By June 2008, president Obama had gained many representatives to be nominated and Hillary Clinton officially announced that she had suspended her campaign. Furthermore, Hillary Clinton requested her followers to support Barack Obama. In the same year, she was nominated as the Secretary of State of the United States by Barack Obama.
