How many women can do a strip tease for their husband to keep their marriage spicy, keep up work as a busy executive at an advertising agency , and cook and do laundry for a large family? Lynette Scavo is a fictional character in the series Desperate Housewives. The character is portrayed by famous actress Felicity Huffman, who was nominated for Golden Globe Award for Best Actress -  Television Series Musical or Comedy for 2005 to 2007, and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2005.

Lynette Scavo is the eldest of three daughters. She is graduated from Northwestern University. In the first season of the series it is shown that she met Tom while working together in advertising agency. They then married and moved to Wisteria Lane. Lynette has five children with Tom and is the only of the four main housewives not to divorce during the series.

She was best known as a savvy and tough businesswoman. She was an over-achiever in her working world who could achieve any task. But those days came to an end when Lynette and her husband, Tom, decided to have kids. Since then, she has tirelessly struggled to find the perfect balance between motherhood, marriage, and career.

Lynette's character was a business executive before staying home to raise her children and she managed to re-forge her carer after giving birth to four of them. For ten years, Lynette battled her prescription drug dependency, her wild children, her husband's mild-life crisis, her crazy boss, her alcoholic mother, her unstable siblings, cancer, a serial killer, and a miscarriage, to name a few. Her fourth pregnancy took her out of the workplace, but not until she was in her final trimester. Lynette seems to be able to handle work each week than most of us do in a lifetime.

Lynette used to see herself as a career woman, and a hugely successful one at that. She represents that person inside all of us, who just can't seem to hold it together. She is lovable due to her struggles, her chaotic life, and, most important, her ability to be honest. When she took a new job, she thought that she would love, but she desperately misses her old one. It's not because she doesn't love her children, but like many women, she doesn't love being a stay-at-home mother. She always wishes to do what is best for her family.
